Dr Emily Crosby

Educational Psychologist

I am a registered Educational Psychologist with the HCPC with over 10 years of working with children, young people and their families. I carried out my undergraduate Bachelor of Science Psychology degree at Royal Holloway, University of London before working as a research assistant in a Baby Lab and carrying out literacy research. I then worked as a teaching assistant and applied behavioural analysis therapist across mainstream and specialist schools. After some travelling, I worked as an assistant educational psychologist in a specialist social, emotional and mental health school before completing my professional doctorate at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, University of Essex. During this time, I worked in CAMHS across the neurodiversity assessment and post diagnostic teams at the Tavistock, as well as placements in two different local authorities.

Since qualifying I have worked in the same local authority for over 2 years delivering psychological services to various schools. This has consisted of assessments with children and young people with learning and emotional and social needs as well as consultations with parents and school staff. I have contributed to many Educational Health Care Plans, supervision, workshops and trainings to parents and educators. I have also carried out cognitive-behavioural therapy with children and young people, mainly adolescents, experiencing anxiety often related to school attendance, neurodiversity, self-esteem and friends’ issues. I take a relational, systemic approach in my practice to consider the impact of the environment on the child and young person in the centre.
